Whether you’re looking for a natural setting for a corporate meeting, staff training, or retirement celebration, the Environmental Education Center’s indoor spaces and outdoor trails lend inspiration, reflection, harmony, and a connection to the natural world.

We welcome company meetings, classes, gatherings, lectures, clubs, and performances.  The Somerset County Park Commission’s Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park in Basking Ridge, NJ is the perfect place for business and professional gatherings.  Nine miles of hiking trails just outside the door can help make your experience even more enjoyable.

Several rooms are available for rent that can accommodate up to 100 guests.  Rooms can be configured to a set up that will compliment your needs.  Examples include classroom style, theater style, board table, or U-shape.  Free Wi-Fi is available in some rooms.  Organizations are welcome to provide their own catering.  Suggestions are available upon request.  Applicants are required to provide a certificate of insurance for a minimum of $1,000,000 combined single limit that designates the Somerset County Park Commission as primary in nature and named as additionally insured. 

Room rentals are available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis throughout the year.  Parking is free.  Alcohol is prohibited.

Auditorium

Auditorium: The auditorium is a large open room with ample natural light and windows over looking the EEC's rain garden. Drapes can be closed for darkness. Capacity 200, Wi-Fi, projection screen, theater-style, classroom style, U-shape

Pond View Room Pond View Room: The Pond View Room is a medium-sized open classroom with ample natural light. The view of Branta Pond and decorative taxidermy birds add to the ambiance. This room offers access to the back deck and overlook area. Capacity 50, chalk board, classroom style, U-shape or board table
Discovery Room Discovery Room: The Discovery Room is a small classroom with a few computers. Live critters in tanks abound and touchable mounts and microscopes encourage science exploration. This room offers access to the back deck and overlook area. Capacity 50, chalk board, Wi-Fi, board table
Tree House The Tree House: The Tree House is separated from the main building and offers a quiet, secluded, classroom space. Colorful and artistic décor abound. Please note, in order to access bathrooms guests will have to walk through the courtyard to the main building. Capacity 50, dry erase board/projection screen, classroom style, U-shape, board table
Biomimicry STEM Lab Biomimicry STEM Lab: The Biomimicry STEM Lab is a newly renovated science lab located in the downstairs of the main building. Capacity 60, smart board, Wi-Fi, classroom-style, U-shape, board table

There is a $25 building attendant fee per hour for opening doors prior to 8am and for daytime meetings that are not completed by 5pm.  Building can be occupied no later than 11pm.

Hours & Directions
The building is open 9am-5pm daily.
Exhibits are open 9am-4:30pm daily.
Registration is accepted 9am-4:30pm daily.
The building is closed on Holidays.
Trails are open dawn to dusk daily but closed on Deer Management days as scheduled.
